About

Our Story

A fund built alongside the
communities it serves.

Built on years of partnership with communities across West Kalimantan.

The fund draws its unique strength from being founded on Planet Indonesia’s long-term community partnerships and proven tools for strengthening local leadership. It addresses the need for flexible funding models that account for local financial literacy, community risk perceptions, and diverse priorities.

The fund aims to achieve equity in conservation and climate finance, by expanding funding access and strengthening local capacity, enabling frontline communities to lead and sustain their own solutions.

The fund is managed by representatives from Yayasan Planet Indonesia.

With its management and decision-making headed in Indonesia, the representatives chose the woven rattan basketry, connecting hands, communities, and forests across Indonesia, to inspire the fund’s visual motif. More than just a symbol of culture and heritage, the woven baskets embody the Collective Governance Fund’s core values and acts as a vessel for collaboration, shared strength, and a place to gather resources.

Managed by an Indonesian organisation, with over a decade of experience
working alongside communities.

Yayasan Planet Indonesia
A non-profit addressing the tragedy of the commons through community-led, rights-based partnerships with frontline communities.

The term ‘integrated landscape initiative’ (ILI) has gained popularity as an ‘umbrella concept’ that describes projects that aim to explicitly improve food production, biodiversity conservation, and rural livelihoods on a landscape scale.

It describes approaches that consider the entire landscape, including its environmental, social, and economic aspects, by bringing together diverse stakeholders to manage land use in a way that balances competing needs, aiming for sustainable outcomes across the whole system, rather than focusing on isolated issues within the landscape.
